The profession of living; Diaries 1935 - 1950 by Cesare Pavese Publisher: Jamal Publications Genre: Paperback Cover Summary: In fact, you write to be like the dead, to speak from outside time, to make yourself a memory for everyone. - Pavese, The Mission of Living Turning actions into words does not mean submitting to the eloquence of actions, nor rushing with the authentic meaning, this means that we put all the life you breathed in this big world into words, to harbor it with strength, to embed it, the written page should not be an exact copy of life, for in this case it becomes useless, it should be worthy of it. Yes, it should be a truth among actions, a creature among other creatures. - Pavese, Literature and Society
