Now... here the publisher: Arab Foundation for Studies and Publishing, Dar Al-Tanweer for Printing and Publishing
Type: Paperback, regular cover
Publisher's note:
"Now... here" are pages that record events emerging from death and intended to be an honest and neutral testimony as much as possible, and to make the reader feel stronger and more eager to organize repression and demolish prisons, and to contribute to creating a human situation in which people can live without killing each other, and without blood becoming the only language of dialogue. And so... between exposure and incitement, between artistic embellishment and historical awareness, Abdul Rahman Munif built "Now... here." It is a novel, but it was like a testimony... announcing the scandal... tearing apart silence... these homelands... prisons... scandal... and these citizens-prisoners are a scandal... and this Middle Eastern history is a prison rotting in scandal...
Although the novel represents a vision with its regional diversities and multiple levels, it deliberately remains an incomplete statement, only complete if the reader adds a stance or an action... perhaps words can leave a significant impact... to be the basis of all change.
Publisher's note:
A novel belonging to prison literature through which Abdul Rahman Munif expressed the tense political situation experienced by the peoples of the Arab world, victims being the passionate youth seeking freedom. It continues Munif’s journey in the prisons of the Arab world after his novel "East Mediterranean" published 15 years earlier, as if to say that the passage of time in this part of the world has no effect on the relationship between authority and citizens. Just like in "East Mediterranean," the place and time are undefined and are both illusions, as Munif invents two states (Amooria and Muran) which are two images of a reality experienced by the peoples of the Arab homeland in general...
