Product description

Like most pen companies, Parker worked for decades to find the perfect filling system, and when Parker "61" was finally launched in 1956 AD, it was truly a pen from another world. It shared many features with the dominant Parker "51," but it was thinner, cooler, and most importantly, the pen filled itself. No one really knew how it worked, but it did. The amazing filling method of the Parker 61 Nib: Ink reservoir filling system not filled by inserting the nib into the ink and filling by pressing the tube, as in other Parker versions. Doman, the legendary designer who designed the exterior of the Parker "61," invented a system with holes designed to hold ink through capillary attraction. The newspaper was rolled inside a Teflon-coated metal tube with three holes at its end, designed to be inserted into an ink bottle with the nib facing up without staining the nib with ink. Then, capillary force would literally absorb the ink into the pen, without flipping the levers or pressing buttons or rods—just place the tube in the ink for about thirty seconds, and it’s ready. The Parker 61 is considered the first pen from Parker to design the ink reservoir with a capillary force filling system. Features: Pen body: Made of luxurious black-coated metal.
