For history, there are other sayings

The history of man is past and present and future, and the dividing borders between these are almost melting; the past lives in us and there is no good in denying it, and the future is in us just like the past equally; it is the three sides of time that are inseparable, and the Islamic nation has been deprived of the most abundant sources of its strength, which is faith in the greatness of its past, while it is descended from a forefather who did not see a more beautiful, more impressive, or more radiant biography than his. There is nothing in our history to be ashamed of or that is blameworthy, even if it contains an illegitimate mistake, or a proper investigation, or a religious violation, it is also beautiful, announcing the beauty of religion in the exclusivity of infallibility for our Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, and acknowledging the mistake of the wrongdoer.
