GPS speed readings fall apart the moment you ride under tree cover or between buildings. The signal bounces, the data lags, and your bike computer displays numbers that don't match what your legs are actually doing. The Wahoo TRACKR Speed Sensor solves this by measuring wheel rotation directly at the hub, delivering consistent speed and distance data regardless of satellite visibility. For riders who train in forests, urban environments, or anywhere GPS gets sketchy, a hub-mounted sensor provides the ground truth your computer needs.

The TRACKR mounts to your front wheel hub using an elastic strap that stretches to fit hub diameters up to 40mm. No magnets, no spoke-mounted sensors, no zip ties running to a chainstay pickup. The internal accelerometer detects wheel rotation and calculates speed based on your configured wheel circumference. Installation takes about 30 seconds: stretch the band over the hub, confirm the sensor sits flat against the hub body, and pair it with your device.

Dual-band connectivity broadcasts simultaneously over ANT+ and Bluetooth, so the sensor works with cycling computers, smartwatches, and phone apps without needing to choose protocols. Pair it to an ELEMNT computer via ANT+ while your phone app connects over Bluetooth, and both devices receive the same accurate speed data. Two LED indicators confirm what's happening: blue shows the sensor is connected to a device, red flashes when it's detecting wheel rotation.

Battery life reaches 200 hours on a standard CR2032 coin cell, which translates to months of regular riding before you need to swap batteries. The replaceable cell means no charging cables to manage and no anxiety about forgetting to charge before a ride. When the battery eventually dies, pop the old one out and drop in a fresh cell. Wahoo recommends Panasonic or other name-brand batteries for consistent performance.

The sensor carries an IPX7 water resistance rating, handling submersion up to one meter for 30 minutes. Rain, puddles, and pressure washing won't affect operation. At 13 grams for the sensor alone, it adds essentially nothing to your wheel weight, and the low-profile design stays tucked against the hub where it won't catch on anything. The TRACKR works with road, gravel, and cross-country mountain bike hubs, though oversized enduro hubs may have fitment limitations. Note that spin bikes aren't compatible since the sensor requires actual wheel rotation to function.
