Hijaz Acacia is a shrub or small tree with a thick trunk and a rounded or flat top, its branches are thorny, and its leaves are smooth. This tree inhabits western and southern Saudi Arabia as well as in Africa, and grows in valleys and on mountain slopes adjacent to coasts. It is a drought-tolerant plant and withstands harsh climate conditions. It is also a source of firewood.
Flower of Hijaz Acacia tree: The flowers are arranged in round dark yellow inflorescences that appear in winter.
Fruit and seeds of Hijaz Acacia tree: Its fruits are long, segmented, with one oval and flat seed in each segment.
Hijaz Acacia planting season: It is planted in spring and autumn, and can also be cultivated year-round in agricultural reserves and enclosed or plastic-covered places where temperature can be controlled or where there is sufficient light for the plant.
