Product description
Common name: Alarqa - Aljareed
Scientific name: Helianthemum salicifolium
Also known as: Arja, Aljared
Alarqa is a seasonal annual plant belonging to the Cistaceae family. It is a plant needed by the fungus Fag, as the Fag feeds on its roots. If Alarqa is found, it is likely that there is also Maamoul or Fag.
Alarqa - Aljareed flower: Its small yellow flowers bloom in spring.
Alarqa - Aljareed seeds: Very small seeds the size of sand grains, smooth in texture, brown in color.
Alarqa - Aljareed germination season: October and November are the best times for cultivation. Watering is reduced in January. It can also be cultivated year-round in agricultural reserves and enclosed or plastic places where temperature can be controlled, and where the plant receives enough sunlight or lighting.
Suitable climate and soil for Alarqa - Aljareed: Preferably planted in well-drained, aerated clay soil. It can also be grown in sandy soils. It tolerates frost and drought, and should be watered regularly.
Method of cultivating Alarqa - Aljareed: Propagated by seeds at a depth of no more than 1 cm from the soil surface. Due to the very small size of the seeds—about 5000 seeds per gram—it is better to mix 0.5 grams of seeds with 50 grams of sand to facilitate scattering. It should be watered continuously to prevent the soil from drying out during germination.
Its benefits and uses: Grown alongside Maamoul or Fag, and also used in the medical field.
Original habitat of Alarqa - Aljareed: Saudi Arabia, also found in the Mediterranean basin.
