Endless joke - David Foster Wallace

Imagine American society as obsessed with pleasure and entertainment, without concern for what elevates its status. And perhaps it is his greatest achievement ever. He has been described as an eternal struggler, on the level of writers and individuals. The famous critic Anthony Scott spoke about him, saying: "Wallace was one of the most important writers of his generation in the United States because he reflected their fears and challenges, and highlighted them in a pure, brave, and strict manner. I can classify him as (the novelist of novelists). With his short stories and his major novel (Endless Humor), he presented a style and a source from which current writers draw in their writing journey." Wallace committed suicide in 2008, leaving behind three novels, three short story collections, and six non-fiction books that varied between collections of essays and documentary works.
