Product description

The book highlights an important and controversial segment in the history of the Arabian Gulf, which is the slaves. Although slaves played a significant role in the culture and economy of the region, they were excluded from the official historical narrative. The author faced criticism and questions about the purpose of shedding light on this embarrassing period of history, and digging into the pains of this group, whose descendants today enjoy freedom and integration into society. But it is time for this perspective to change, and for everyone to realize that the role of slaves was important and honorable in building and prospering the societies in which they lived. This segment left a clear impact on language, art, customs, food, clothing, as well as their role in the economy, before and after oil. Therefore, it is impossible, and even unethical, to ignore them and the injustice they suffered, as well as their role in building our societies. The author relied on official British documents that gave slaves the opportunity to express themselves. And there is nothing in the British documents or the memories of the slaves that discredit those descended from this group; many who lived through the era of slavery condemned what the slaves endured from injustice, and we must realize that many of them were enslaved but not slaves, rather free people who were kidnapped.
