Product description

The presentation of Islam as a religion resistant to modernity has become familiar to some scholars of religion who offer quick analyses to find reasons for the deep mental and cultural stagnation that, according to them, affects the Islamic world. And according to the information these scholars provide in their own way, Islamic fundamentalism becomes the expression of the fundamental opposition between Islam and the West. This study comes to reveal the superficial nature of such pessimistic and hostile analyses, and aims to offer a different understanding of the world and its development. There will be no "clash of civilizations"; on the contrary, an in-depth study of social and historical indicators suggests the idea of "meeting of civilizations." The authors gather tools of demographic analysis to prove this. In fact, this analysis does not reveal divergence between models but shows a very great convergence among them. It appears that the Islamic world has entered a phase of demographic, cultural, and intellectual revolution that previously led to the development of countries that are now among the most advanced regions in the world, and it is moving, in its own way, toward a point where it meets a comprehensive and overarching history. The technological delay and current violence of the Islamic world is an undeniable reality, but the West is not far from contributing to this chaos and exploiting it.
