The White Nile Organic Coffee project started in 1998 to harness the region's potential and promote Arabica coffee cultivation through training farmers on the best farming methods and practices. In 2003, the project obtained its first organic certification, which is considered an achievement that helped attract other prestigious certifications, including sustainable agriculture accreditation from UTZ and Rainforest Alliance. The program is called White Nile (or the White Nile) named after the Murchison Falls located a few kilometers away. There, the great Nile River flows between volcanic rocks, producing white foam and turning the Nile's color to (white), then it flows into Lake Albert. Kawkab encourages renewable methods and activities among participating members of the project. Over the years, it has distributed about 150,000 coffee seedlings annually to its partner farmers and distributed many varieties, including SL-14, which is very suitable for the region's climate and for producing high-quality coffee. Afterwards, the pulping process (de-pulping) takes place at the main mill, where the cherries are depulped after complete drying and sorting from impurities, then sent to the export center, where the journey begins to the roasting house and then to a cup of coffee worthy of your morning!
