Product description
Three decades ago, Stephen King introduced readers to Roland Deschain, the dominant and mysterious "Roland," an unforgettable character easily. A solitary man who went on a magical journey into the world of good and evil. He chose to live in his world free of any kindness. Roland pursues the man in the black cloak, meets a charming woman named "Alice," and a friendship develops between him and a boy from New York named "Jake." A strange world in which Roland and his friends roam makes reading this novel an unforgettable pleasure. This novel "The Gunslinger" is the first part of the epic Dark Tower series that introduces readers to one of Stephen King's most mysterious heroes, Roland of Gilead: the last gunslinger. In the preface that opens the novel, Stephen addresses the reader: "... when I returned to the first part, which you hold in your hands now, three clear facts appeared before me. The first is that "The Gunslinger" was written by a young man, and he suffers from all kinds of problems that a young writer faces. The second fact is that it contains a large number of mistakes and false starts, especially in light of the subsequent parts. The third fact is that it even resembles the later parts – honestly, reading it was difficult. I often found myself compelled to apologize for all that, and to tell others that if they persevere, they will find the story truly found itself in "The Three Doors." At some point in "The Gunslinger," Roland is described as one of those men who would straighten pictures in Western hotel rooms. I am personally from that category, and that is somewhat the goal of all those rewriting processes: straighten the pictures, clean the floors, scrub the toilets. I have done a lot of household chores during this editing process, and I had the chance to do what any writer would want to do with a finished but still in need of final polishing novel..." King concludes by saying: "... I wanted to tell a story of oddities. If you find yourself falling in love with "The Dark Tower," even a little, I will consider that I have accomplished my mission, which began in 1970 and largely concluded in 2003. But Roland will be the first to point out to you that such a long period of time means very little at all. In fact, when one seeks the "Dark Tower," time becomes completely irrelevant." It remains to note that the (Dark Tower series) consists of eight parts, completed by Stephen King in 2009. It will be published in its Arabic version by Dar Al-Arabiyyah for Science Publishers, and this book is the first part of it.
