Product description

In this book, Stendhal does not present love as an indirect offering like pure, flowing water running from the spring of the pure soul and flowing into the channels of the self and its passages, carrying emotions, feelings, sensations, and reactions, and hindered in its course by inherited customs and followed traditions. This love, which he borrows its nobility from the nobility of the soul, encounters obstacles in its sincere rush, such as fear, shyness, modesty, decency, and the restrictions of social and religious traditions that political regimes favor, adopt, and impose by force and tyranny, along with hatred, malice, envy, jealousy, arrogance, pride, pretense, artificiality, affectation, triviality, possessiveness, and ownership. All of this he mentions in his book. But not in a dry, strict, and constrained scientific style, rather with complete freedom and ease, supported by examples and stories from reality. He unleashes his thoughts to organize as he wishes and as he desires, in sentences and passages, often intertwined and interconnected like the mixing of feelings with sensations, emotions with reactions. Every reader perceives it as suits him and fits his ability, capacity, and competence.
