How to use Fleet enema for adults· Use one enema per day· How to use this enema: Remove the orange protective shield from the enema before inserting it. With continuous pressure, gently insert the tip of the enema into the rectum with a slight side-to-side movement, directing the tip toward the navel. Insertion may be easier if the person receiving the enema feels discomfort, as if they are having a bowel movement. This helps relax the muscles around the anus. Stop using if it is difficult to insert the tip. Pushing the tip into the rectum can cause injury (especially if you have hemorrhoids). If the enema tip causes bleeding or pain in the rectum, seek medical care immediately. Squeeze the bottle until the liquid almost disappears. It is not necessary to empty the entire bottle, as it contains more liquid than needed. Remove it from the rectum and hold it until the urge to evacuate becomes strong (usually from 1 to 5 minutes).· Dosage may vary in some special cases, so always follow your doctor’s or pharmacist’s instructions.· If you take more than the recommended dose, talk to your doctor or go to the hospital immediately.· If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is time for the next dose.· Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for a missed dose.
