Humble beginnings The Nubian heritage is from the ideas of two street vendors in New York. In 1992, after graduating from college and without jobs, Rich and Niyima embarked on a mission to produce luxurious natural products from traditional African recipes with fair trade ingredients. Today, Nubian Heritage offers culturally authentic natural products inspired by ancient global healing philosophies. Although Nubian Heritage products are no longer made in bathtubs, little has changed; the company still makes its own products, still uses fair trade ingredients, and still invests in community trade. Heritage Historical references to shea butter, a staple in African pharmacy, date back to shea butter caravans mentioned in Egypt during Cleopatra's era. Shea butter is rich in essential fatty acids that moisturize and soften the skin. Frankincense has aromatic benefits. The history of myrrh dates back to the Ebers Papyrus (around 1580) for a facial mask.
