What is Eroxol ointment? Eroxol is an ointment containing collagenase enzyme used to remove dead tissue from wounds and stimulate their healing. What is the active ingredient in Eroxol? Each 1 gram contains: Collagenase (Clostridiopeptidase A) at a concentration of 0.6 units/gram. What are the indications for Eroxol? Used in cleaning necrotic and ulcerated wounds such as: diabetic foot ulcers, pressure sores, leg ulcers, gangrene, wounds after surgeries or accidents, burns, before skin grafting. What is the dosage of Eroxol? According to the leaflet: Apply a layer about 2 mm thick once daily (and it may be used twice). How to use Eroxol? Clean and moisten the wound before use, apply the ointment directly on the wounds, cover the wound with a dressing, change the dressing daily. Important: The wounds should be kept moist, treatment is stopped after the wound is cleaned. What are the side effects of Eroxol? Include: local pain, itching, burning sensation, redness. What are the warnings? Avoid contact with the eyes, do not use with disinfectants or soap, protect the healthy skin around the wound, keep the wound moist. What are the contraindications? Allergy to any component, severe burns. What are the drug interactions? Not used with: disinfectants, soap, some topical antibiotics. It can be used with: silver, some suitable antibiotics. When to stop treatment? When the wound is fully cleaned, or if no improvement occurs within 14 days. How to store Eroxol? Keep below 25 degrees Celsius.
