Product description

Imagine yourself opening an old book, its pages light as if they are melting between your fingers, and on page 25 a strange world appears before you, drawn with few lines... but overflowing with life. This is the page Chōjū ryakugashiki by the Japanese artist Kitau Masayoshi. Masayoshi did not draw a static animal, but released it from the paper to jump towards your eyes. With brief brushstrokes, he creates a bird fluttering, a rabbit leaping, and a fish as if swimming between the ink. The lines are only black, but they turn into a visual music, like a living calligraphy embodying the spirit of the creature, not just its body. This painting was not just for decoration, but more like a secret magical book, teaching artists how to capture the soul of nature with a single line. In a time when drawings were made with complete features and heavy colors, Masayoshi came to say: "Life does not need many details... sometimes a simple touch is enough to awaken the soul." Every creature here seems as if it is about to come out of the page, a bird about to fly, a cat staring at you with its hidden eyes, and a strange animal hiding half in the ink and half in the imagination.
