The false adult life

Jovana lives, the only daughter of two teachers, a happy childhood in the upscale neighborhoods of Upper Naples. But she is shocked one day when she hears a conversation between her parents, in which her father compares her to Vittoria, the ugly and despicable aunt. Thus begins Jovana's search for Vittoria in the lower streets of Naples, tinged with vulgarity and baseness. Between the top and the bottom, Jovana swings, sometimes falling and sometimes climbing, exposing the false adult life, breathless in search of answers that may inspire a path to salvation. Elena Ferrante "Perhaps she is the best who wrote novels in our time. Her literature is as transparent as glass, her stories are primal and profound at the same time."
