Product description

Kimya "I have known Kimya since she was a girl who had just left her father's sheep herding, a spirit exposed to what we do not see. Some described her as mad, and others accused her of possession. I alone know that she is not like that; she is a creature that freed herself from darkness and was healed. A girl prepared to enter the world of women, in need of a lover, discovering together the secrets of love and the body. And we were preparing, when they kidnapped her from me and threw her into her oven to extract her spirit." This novel traces the fate of "Kimya," the girl who grew up in the house of the poet and Sufi lover "Jalal al-Din Rumi," who was presented as a wife to her teacher "Shams al-Din Tabrizi" despite the apparent disparity between them; which was evident in that she was eight years younger than her husband. Through flowing narration and sweet language, the novel raises several difficult and puzzling questions.. Why did "Tabrizi" agree to marry Kimya despite being nearly her grandfather's age? Why did Kimya fall ill shortly after her marriage to him, an illness that only left her spirit? How did Kimya disappear as if she had never existed? Why didn't Jalal al-Din Rumi regret her death in his poetry? Why did she live as an unknown and die anonymously in her grave? And most importantly: why did Rumi gift her to Shams despite knowing the love that united her with his son Alaa al-Din? A novel, with all its boldness in penetrating the past and reconstructing it, opens the door for its reader to another world and alternative interpretations.
