A brief about the book: It will be published soon by the Arab Cultural Center. The Arabic translation of the novel "The Man of Constantinople" by the Portuguese writer José Rodrigues dos Santos, translated by Saeed Benabdullah. It is an exceptional novel that captures a pivotal moment in world history, combining the last moments before the collapse of the Ottoman Empire with the Western frantic pursuit of control over the region. José Rodrigues dos Santos is considered one of the brightest broadcasters in Portugal because he presents the main news bulletin on the first government channel. However, his fame extended beyond his country after his latest novel "Heavenly Wrath," which he co-wrote with an element of Al-Qaeda, became the most popular novel in the world, translated into 20 languages. Dos Santos was born in 1964 in Pira, Mozambique, where his father worked as a doctor in Mozambican villages. About that period, the Portuguese novelist says, "My father traveled in a Cherokee plane from village to village, from Sunday to Friday. He organized vaccination campaigns for children and was proud to have eradicated Pery Pery disease in that area. They called him the White Angel because he wore white, and his plane was white and brought health. But one day, he moved to a village and found that all its residents had died. That is why I wrote the novel 'The White Angel,' which I published years ago, about my father's story in Mozambique." But in Islamabad, after the assassination of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, Dos Santos had the idea to write the novel "Heavenly Wrath." About that, he says: "I was at the Marriott Hotel, and the Taliban was planning to blow it up four months ago. In the hotel library, I saw a book titled 'Pakistan and the Nuclear Bomb,' and I wondered to myself, what if Al-Qaeda had the nuclear bomb?!" In his novel "Heavenly Wrath," Dos Santos narrates the story of a jihadist named Ahmed. This young man was diligent in attending lessons of an extremist sheikh, was arrested, and upon his release, joined Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan, where he approached Osama bin Laden, who tasked him with carrying out attacks using the nuclear bomb in the West.
