Overview of the book
The plot of the events in the novel of Mikhail Shishkin, winner of the Booker Prize, includes different time periods and different countries: during the civil war, current Europe, and even ancient Persia. The fates of the narrative heroes intersect, an impossible mutual process occurs among them, and love leads them on the paths of their lives — love that is happy, dramatic, and different. If there is love, no one can make it disappear.
This is the main idea of the novel, which won the "Most Popular National Novel" award.
