Product description
About the book: Youssef and Younes are brothers. When they were young, they fell in love with the girl with green eyes, blonde braids, and a blue T-shirt. And because she leaned towards Youssef, Younes gave her a cake with nails. The girl died. Youssef went to prison because he was the one who brought the cake to the girl without knowing it, then Youssef's journey to find his identity, which was threatened by disappearance under the influence of his older brother, began. The game of role exchange and masks turns into a deadly practice in times of dictatorship and wars. Younes disappears after the events of 1991, and Youssef decides to take his name, his identity, and even his place in the marital bed, only to discover after years that his brother is being hunted as an executioner in the former regime. In vain, Youssef tried to convince his pursuers that he is not Younes. No one wants to believe him: Shizorinia is clearly a place where a battle of names and identities is fought, with one side winning. Youssef's image is the first Iraqi novel set after April 9, 2003, in Baghdad, but it also describes a world full of terror and destruction everywhere, controlled by wars and dictatorships, where it is difficult to distinguish between victim and executioner, and where truth turns into a nightmare and imagination into reality. Iraqi novelist Nجم Wali, whose works have been translated into several world languages, continues in this novel his project of writing about the hellish modern Iraqi history. The novel, first published in 2005 by the Arab Cultural Center in Beirut and Casablanca, then by Dar Mairit in Cairo in 2008 with a new edition, and numerous pirated editions, is now published by Dar Al-Rafidain. It is the fifth work of the complete works published by Dar Al-Rafidain for the author.
