Product description

In the novel "Jameela," which Aragoon described as the most beautiful contemporary love story, and in which the narrator and hero was a 15-year-old teenager, the main feature of Itmatov's prose was manifested: a mixture of intense drama in describing characters and situations, with a lyrical structure in describing nature and people's customs. "Jameela" tells the story of a young woman from Kyrgyzstan who lives a deep internal struggle on one hand, and with her surrounding environment on the other, due to her distinction from others in how she deals with her inner feelings, in contradiction with outdated social customs and old traditions. Jameela found in Danyar, the humble, hardworking, and poor man who returned from the front due to a leg injury that did not prevent him from working on the collective farm, a friend who could understand her deeply, a man deserving of great love. And Itmatov demonstrated in this novel, which discussed its characters through the model of the young man "Said," the insight and intelligence of the hero. The writer delved deeply into the human psyche, describing the internal suffering of the heroes, and the painful state of loss experienced by the young man "Said" when the lovers, Jameela and Danyar, fled from the village. Itmatov achieved great success in describing the internal state of a person, his suffering, and the justifications for his behavior. We will see him always trying to reach all angles of this rational being's inner world, and this is clearly evident when the character is in a pivotal or extreme state, as we will see in the character of "Jameela" herself, where a contradiction occurs in the hero's psyche between good and evil, between what is ethical and what is unethical, between personal interest and self-denial.
