Cats meow and dogs bark" while I was passing through Ramses Street, a large monkey appeared beside me, a real monkey with thick hair and a body with a distinctive curve and a red backside, a monkey like those you see in movies, I haven't seen a real monkey in more than twenty years when I last visited the zoo before they closed it and released the animals onto the streets. The monkey jumped high to touch my shoulder with its hairy hand, alerting me to its presence, it wasn't necessary to do that as its presence was enough to attract attention, but it seemed noticeable only to me without the passing people nearby. I had read in the morning news about some monkeys escaping from a veterinary college, I laughed and didn't care, all news now made me laugh without concern." The stories of this collection take place in a city resembling a jungle, in a harsh world full of animals, monkeys jumping in its streets, cats invading its alleys, lions and dogs here and there, and the narrator lost amidst all this, barely distinguishing reality from dream, or truth from nightmare, everything has become intertwined and confusing, and amid all this noise, the writer closes his room door and grabs his pen to narrate and describe what is happening around him in hopes of understanding this world and grasping its changes.
