Good morning, O sadness

Product description

About the book I hesitate to put a name to this unknown feeling, as it takes over me with boredom and sweetness. I hesitate to call it by that beautiful, dignified name... the name of sadness. It is a feeling of totality and selfishness, to the point that I almost feel ashamed of it, because sadness always seemed to me to be a truly respectable matter. I did not know it... apart from boredom, regret, and a little bit of remorse. And today, something somehow envelops me like silk, something disturbing and sweet, separating me from others. Francoise Sagan was born, her real name is Francoise Quoirez, in Cajarque (Lot). She started writing in 1954 when she published her first novel, "Good Morning, Sadness." This novel caused a real scandal because of its bold and sharp treatment of female sexuality. In the same year, it won the Critics' Prize, becoming a symbol for the post-war generation and propelling its author to the forefront of the literary scene. Sagan has published about thirty novels to date, including "Do You Love Brahms..." which was published in 1963 by Anatole Litévak, then "The Amazing Clouds" in 1973, "A Quiet Storm" in 1983, "The Tricksters" in 1991, and "The Wandering Mirror" in 1996. She was a storyteller and playwright, and wrote a collection of plays and a biography of Sarah Bernhardt published in 1987. This prominent figure belonging to the French cultural scene also wrote the screenplay "Lander" for Claude Chabrol. Francoise Sagan died on September 24, 2004, at the age of about 69.
