الفضيلة

الفضيلة بقلم مصطفى لطفي المنفلوطي ... تعد تربية الأولاد من أهم المنجزات التي يستطيع الإنسان أن يفتخر بها، ولا سيما الأمهات اللاتي يغرسن في أبنائهن القيم والأخلاق ذلك لأن إخراج جيل صالح يحافظ على الفضيلة يُمثل هدفًا عظيمًا، وهذا هو ما سعت إليه كل من «هيلين» و «مرغريت» في تربية ولديهما «فرجيني» و«بول». وعندما شب الطفلان أحب كل منهما الآخر، لكن الحياة لا تعطي كل شيء فقد ماتت «فرجيني» لأنها فضلت أن يبتلعها البحر دون أن تفرط في أخلاقها، وتبعها حبيبها «بول» حزنًا عليها، ودُفنا معا، ثم بعد شهر ماتت والدتها «هيلين». وبعد ثلاثة أشهر توفيت والدته مرغريت»، هكذا رحلت . العائلتان كما رحلت الفضيلة أيضًا. لقد أراد «المنفلوطي» أن يُذكرنا بقيمة الفضيلة التي اندثرت بين زخم الأيام، والتي نحتاج إليها كثيرا لكي ننهض بأخلاقنا وحضارتنا مرة أخرى.

Virtue (Al-Fadila) by Mustafa Lutfi Al-Manfaluti... Raising children is one of the most significant achievements one can be proud of, especially for mothers who instill values and ethics in their children. Producing a righteous generation that upholds virtue is a noble goal, which is what 'Helen' and 'Margaret' sought while raising their children, 'Virginia' and 'Paul'.

As the two grew up, they fell in love. However, life does not give everything; Virginia met her end, choosing to be swallowed by the sea rather than compromising her morals. Her lover, Paul, followed her out of grief, and they were buried together. A month later, her mother Helen passed away, followed three months later by Paul's mother, Margaret. Thus, the two families departed, and virtue departed with them.

Through this work, Al-Manfaluti aims to remind us of the value of virtue that has faded amidst the rush of days—a virtue we desperately need to revive our morals and civilization once again.
